Before sending us your master, please take a moment to review our guidelines regarding masters and IPR. We hope this will help minimize the chances for error, save time and money and increase the probability of us meeting your deadline!
CD Replication
IPR Form
Because of the legal ramifications involving copyright infringement, every manufacturing plant now requires that an IPR form be filled out and submitted with every master. Replication cannot begin and deadlines may not be met unless this form is signed and received at the time you place your order.
IPR? What is it?
IPR stands for “Intellectual Property Rights.” You are signing this form to state that you are either the copyright owner of the material you’re reproducing and/or that you have permission to reproduce what isn’t owned by you. If you have written all of your own material then this is a very simple process. You just fill out the form, check off the box that says you are the IPR owner of the entire disc and sign the bottom. Even if all your songs are in the public domain (free use, traditional songs, etc.) this form must be signed and submitted with your master. You will also need to provide a track list of your disc’s content.
If there is any material on your disc that you do not own, then you need to check off the box that says you are not the IPR owner of the entire disc content and sign the bottom and provide a track list. You are then required to provide proof of licensing agreements between you and the copyright holder/publisher of that particular work not owned by you. This may require you to contact the publisher and pay royalties in advance of replication.

Your CD Master
Formats you may submit to us:
- CDR
- ¾” U-matic (1630) cassette (Compact disc replication only)
- DAT (requires addition transfer fee of $50.00 per hour and an approval process*)
- WAV files (requires download fee of $50.00 per hour and an approval process*)
- Most Video Formats (requires additional transfer fees of $50.00 per hour and an approval process*)
Customer-supplied CDR masters will provide CDs exactly like your disc master, and will not require a test copy. However, sometimes a CDR master will not cut a glass stamper on the first try, or there may be damage to your disc that is only picked up by the mastering process. Typically this equipment is much more sensitive than home or pro studio gear.
For this reason, we strongly suggest that you also send a backup copy of your CDR master, as we are not responsible for time lost while dealing with data errors. If you do not supply a backup, World Class will make a copy for $5.00. We require that you listen to it thoroughly and sign an approval form before we use it for replication. This may delay your turn time.
DAT masters can be accepted when they are recorded at 44.1 or 48 kHz. DATs recorded at 48 kHz will require a 1kHz tone at the beginning of the tape, and maximum playing time is 74 minutes, including all pauses.
Log Information
Please include a track list with your master. Log information should include:
- Total number of tracks
- Individual timings (start and end times)
- Program titles
*World Class Tapes can provide mastering! Please see our Mastering FAQ for more information about mastering and master preparation.
Approval
All transfers or mastering sessions provided by World Class will require written approval of a test copy before using the new master for replication. CDR duplication will not require this approval step unless we are doing additional editing for you or if we have to make a new master for any reason.
Cassette Duplication
Formats we accept:
- Cassette
- VHS
- Beta
- Open reel
- CD or CDR
- DAT
Log Information
Your source master needs to come to us sequenced, timed, with program numbers, and labeled for identification. If providing us with a sequenced master is not possible, editing is available for $50.00 per hour, and digital editing/mastering is available for $85.00 per hour. Masters that are not sequenced will also require an additional track sheet with the intended order of the program.
Log information is required and should include:
- Track sheet or index
- Program titles
- Indication of which side is longer
The Bin Master
In order to duplicate your cassettes, a master must be made that is formatted for our bin-loop duplicator. This is called a bin master. Your source master will be returned to you, but the bin master is catalogued and stored at World Class. This allows us to waive mastering fees on reorders unless you want to change the existing master.
When making the bin master, we record the longer side of the source master first, so letting us know which side is longer will cut down on guessing on our part, and additional mastering fees on yours.
Masters that become worn or that break will be replaced by World Class free of charge, and if you order 5000 or more cassettes, the mastering fee will be waived.
